Ok, this one is a little geeky, but will be quite a useful toy for a few people I know (and you know who you are… ;-)

So I think this is a pretty cool plugin for Firefox. It allows you to set an automatic reload time for a webpage. Perfect for watching that ebay auction.

Nature’s word, musings on sacred geometry

Sunday, February 12th, 2006

I hope I’m not the only geek in the room who finds interest in the interesting math of nature. Nevertheless I have preserved the link for the posterity of my server (or theirs)…

Mind Control by Parasites!

Sunday, February 12th, 2006

Cat owners beware mind control by parasites! Oh, and terrorists too!!!

Boo!

The Olympics are here.

Sunday, February 12th, 2006

Get all the free video Olympic goodness here. Thanks to NBC. After the fact of course, but then who has time to watch all night long?

Netflix, typical bastards…

Cheney Accidentally Shoots Fellow Hunter

Sunday, February 12th, 2006

Surprisingly enough, I’ve managed to participate in hundreds of hunting trips (bird hunting) without shooting another hunter.

Wait, isn’t this that evil sadistical SOB that the Dems were so close to attempting a fillabuster?

New sleeping pill on the horizon. Way, way over the horizon…

Tuesday, February 7th, 2006

Good news for all those obese, insomniac, drug addicts out there. 2012 promises to be a very good year!

For edgy iPod owners everywhere.

Tuesday, February 7th, 2006

GarageBand.com (not affiliated with the Apple software product) offers a mechanism to find new music that suits your taste. The Gpal companion for iPod and iTunes is in free beta trial. It will create and maintain your playlists automatically. It will even match your musical tastes to new music and let you play it from your playlist without you ever owning the song.

I might have to give up and get an iPod….

Iranian Paper Plans Holocaust Cartoons

Tuesday, February 7th, 2006

Now here is an adult response to the Mohammed cartoon. I hope they remember to make the holocaust cartoon humorous even though I do not see it specifically as an analog. Maybe something funny in more of a Moses motif would be more apples to apples.

I would however, like to understand that, if there never can and never should be a likeness of the Prophet Mohammed, how does anyone know that there is any similarity between the character in the cartoon?

Additional thought… If I posted a picture of Bush on the blog and stated that it was a picture of Mohammed, would Muslims be mad that I disgraced Mohammed by aligning his appearance with Bush, or would they instead be upset that by naming Bush as Mohammed I had created a Mohammed Idol to be worshiped?

Hmmmmm

Varied Rationales Muddle Issue of NSA Eavesdropping

Monday, February 6th, 2006

I know everyone else is sick of this, but the middle and end of this article are very interesting.

Bush Budget Plan a Headache for Congress

Monday, February 6th, 2006

I’m in favor of cutting many of the government’s pet subsidization programs. However I’m for budget cutting the other pet programs too (The Pentagon, Homeland Security, etc…).

I’ve got a really original idea, instead of more social engineering via the tax cuts, what if the Federal Government stopped thinking up new and exciting ways to spend our money? Then maybe taxes could be lowered because they just didn’t need the money.

Which brings me to an interesting point. We need a conservative party. The Republican party has strayed so far from being a conservative party that the two can barely be mentioned in the same sentence. For the past nearly 20 years the closest we have been to a conservative president was Clinton (who was so by virtue of being a moderate, not because he was a Democrat).

Save the whales… Stop drinking bottled water

Monday, February 6th, 2006

Ok, it just seemed like a fun mantra. According to Abid Aslam at oneworld.net world obsession with bottled water is not only a wasteful and overall not a good thing for the environment, but a cash cow for the bottling fraudsters.

Are you one of the people who are still paying for ringtones?

Monday, February 6th, 2006

Wired has a nice little walkthrough for bypassing the expense of buying ringtones online.

Telecoms let NSA spy on calls

Monday, February 6th, 2006

I think everyone who reads the blog (thanks to both of you!) knows how I feel about the whole NSA spying story. At the end of this article they mention that the NSA uses a 48 point checklist to determine whether or not a wiretap is justified. What if they made it a 49 point checklist with the last point being whether they have included the judicial branch in their little process.

Muslim Rage

Sunday, February 5th, 2006

I’m not too sure how I feel about this one.

I can sympathize with the Muslims who find this offensive, but a building burning riot in the street kind of offensive?

I can imagine that many religions around the word do not believe in the same level of sacrilegious freedom that many countries take for granted.

I wonder if this one will cause the same level of outrage among the Christians?
