Free internet music radio – from Pandora

Saturday, September 16th, 2006

Ok, here is a big new time waster for me.. Pandora Internet Radio

So far it's about the best engine I've found for finding new and old music that I have not heard before…

I included an RSS feed to my listening groups on the sidebar for a while, so you can see for yourself what you can do with pandora.

If only they can come up with a way to classify and sell all the new unsigned artists from MySpace I think we might be close to kissing the RIAA goodbye…

Thanks for the link El Gordo… :)

Why Johnny can’t code

Friday, September 15th, 2006

I agree 100%. Most of our kids have been cultivated primarily into being users of technology, with no real understanding of what is under the hood…

I cannot tell you how many computer science majors I've interviewed who could not code their way out of a wet paper bag… That is of course unless there is a Microsoft wizard or a collection of Microsoft objects they can string together to complete the task.

Terrorisim is a Crime not a war. Bush, it is time to drop the war metaphor!

Wednesday, September 13th, 2006

Here is a nice article that makes the case that the war is over, and points out that the name "War on Terror" is simply political manipulation by the Bush administration. I would like to point out that Kerry not only supported most of the same offensive measures for the anti-terrorism initiative, but also used fear of terrorism as a campaign tactic. It is my belief that the Democrats are no more innocent than the Republicans regarding media manipulation for political good.

I think it's time to send them all home…

Wow, Bush a Felon… I like it!

Sunday, September 10th, 2006

I think my favorite quote from this article is "Federal law expressly makes the ordering of surveillance under the [NSA-Bush] program a federal felony. That would mean that the president could be guilty of no fewer than 30 felonies in office." Bush says he has reauthorized the program 30 times. And, Turley continues, "it is illegal for other government officials to carry out such an order."

Why is it that you cannot find a tramp with presidential spooge on her dress when you need a good impeachment?

Strangely funny….

myFairTunes6 v.0.2b

Tuesday, September 5th, 2006

myFairTunes6 v.0.2b – is a cute little Windows program that removes the Itunes 6 DRM from music purchased in the iTunes music store…

Warning though: "Backup your library before using. The Mac DeHymn project ran into some snags when the Apple upgrades to iTunes detected songs with the DRM removed, and refused to play them. It was at a later point the project was updated to further clean the songs so they could play."

Red Dwarf Backwards Hidden Message

Monday, September 4th, 2006

It's so funny. This hilarious scene from the Red Dwarf series came up in conversation yesterday. I've seen this episode a dozen times and never really thought about playing it backwards.

Computer composes synthetic Vivaldi….

Monday, September 4th, 2006

This is just so cool, and a little scary… Someone has broken musical composition down to it's nuts and bolts and has written a program that can replicate the style of a composer based mostly on their published body of work…

I bet the RIAA is already preparing a lawsuit…

MySpace to sell DRM free MP3’s from nearly 3 million unsigned bands

Saturday, September 2nd, 2006

Now if they can come up with an engine to suggest bands based on your musical interests (myspace is already handy for browsing common interests through friends and friends-of-friends bands) this could be the perfect way for music to reach the masses.
