Treasury casts a wide net under Patriot Act

I meant to post this when I first saw it a few weeks ago but it eluded me till I started cleaning up my notes.

This is interesting and perhaps disturbing on its own merits. The thing that really caught my eye was the claim that Senator John Kerry originally drafted the relevant section of the Act as stand-alone legislation. Those of you who recall our conversations regarding the 2004 presidential election may remember Evil Tyrant saying his research indicated that Candidate Kerry was no better an advocate for privacy than his competitor, Candidate Bush. If the assertion in this article regarding Senator Kerry is correct, then it certainly substantiates Evil Tyrant’s view of Candidate Kerry.

TiVo.Net – Turn your TiVo into a media center for your video files

Wednesday, March 7th, 2007

TiVo.Net runs as a Windows service that serves your video files (in their various formats) to your TiVo as a if it were a TiVo GoBack server.

It’s early for the software, so expect bugs and quality issues. Oh and you have to compile the code yourself (unless you can find it compiled out on the net somewhere).

Greenhouse effect is a myth, say scientists.

Ok, who knows where I can find BBC torrents? I would really like to see a show titled The Great Global Warming Swindle, as soon as I can find it. I believe it is scheduled to air this Thursday evening on BBC 4.

I like the part where a scientist had to threaten legal action against the UN “Panel for Climate Change” to get his name off the list of scientists who agree with the Panel’s report.

So maybe it doesn’t matter if Al Gore performs a reassessment of his carbon footprint after all…
