No comment, Evil Tyrant? I should think this right up your well trained alley.
In general terms, I think this a good thing. Consumers have so litle say over their data, how it is used, bought & sold, that there ought to be some protection against lax security that allows criminals relatively easy access to it. Standardization, regulation, and enforcement sound real good, but given the horribly cozy relationship business has with what is supposed to be the people’s congress, I suspect yet another paper tiger that may be displayed at election time and otherwise ignored. One can always hope for something substantial that does a better job than our current mixture of states’ laws, which vary greatly.
