Bush Teleconference With Soldiers Staged

Friday, October 14th, 2005

To anyone who is surprised that the administration staged a press event, sorry… Bush Teleconference With Soldiers Staged

Since being elected president is more a media oriented popularity contest, is it really surprising that being president is more about the appearance than the substance?

Finding the location, identity, or affiliation of email senders

Monday, October 10th, 2005

Nice little walk-through to locate where an email really comes from.

Please bear in mind that if you are trying to track down spam, much of it is coming from zombie machines that are infected with malware (essentially a virus)…

India Quake Survivors Complain of Slow Aid

Sunday, October 9th, 2005

I’m starting to see a pattern. Is is possible that people who have lost homes, loved ones, and posessions will be very frustrated and upset when a news crew shoves a camera and microphone in their face? Do we find it surprising that even as the victims of tragedy are trying to rescue survivors, locate family, and find a way to supply the basic necessities of life (food, water, sanitary conditions, shelter) for themselves and others, that the victims have a hard time understanding that people might be doing all they can to help?

DARPA Grand Challenge 2005

Saturday, October 8th, 2005

It is time for the second annual DARPA Grand Challenge; the unmanned, self guided vehicle race. This years race will cover 132 miles of obstacles in the Mojave Desert.

All the vehicles in the challenge have to sense, think and drive for themselves. Last year this proved to be an insurmountable task as the top participant from the first challenge only managed to complete 7 miles of the 144 mile course. This year’s challengers should be MUCH smarter, so hopefully someone will be able to finish and take the $2,000,000 prize

The Challenge starts on today 10/8/05. You can pickup your updates HERE.

One Bad Mule

Saturday, October 8th, 2005

If you have received the email about a Montana Mule killing a Mountain Lion to protect a couple of dogs (and I bet you have, as I’ve received it 5 times already)…
The picture is real, but the story is fake, the mountain Lion was dead before the mule tossed it around

Ok, this movie is a little beyond just being funny…

Corpse Bride a hit, at least with me!

Tuesday, October 4th, 2005

I just saw “The Corpse Bride” and loved every minute of it. Which means it will probably fail miserably at the box office and through the normal system of supply and demand we will get more “Mr and Mrs Smith” quality action films, and less of Tim Burton’s wonderfully twisted artwork.

I highly recommend it to anyone. Will go great for just one, a date, or a family.
