    It is my understanding that the levee’s that broke are actually the local levees (funded and maintained by the city) and not the ones that were cited as needing repair by the Army Corps of Eng. which would have received federal funds. This is what I was told from someone living in N.O.

    I was watching an interview with an one of the N.O. engineers last night. He said that even if the budget had been funded to requested level it wouldn’t have helped this situation… Doesn’t seem to have slowed the attack from the media though…
